Well, “Dumbo” just looks WEIRD (from what I’ve seen so far)! I don’t know many ppl who saw the new Mary Poppins; I heard it was OK (nothing terrible).

plus a totally superficial Kenneth Branagh. I guess he has to be in everything now.

Yeah, def NOT a big fan of Will Smith! I thought he was fine in “Ali” though- just saw that movie once. Disney uses BIG name ppl- that’s why they chose him; I think “The Lion King” will be bigger than “Aladdin.” There are plenty of ppl (around 30 y.o.) who seem excited for “Aladdin” though; they LOVED the previous version!

It feels like a gimmick (Will Smith).
I don’t have such big issues with them remaking their animations that didn’t belong to my childhood, but I feel wounded by “Dumbo,” frankly. Reboot fever annoys me a lot. (Put this in a category with A Star is Born and Mary Poppins returns.) But to me the social / racial moments of those films, which are irritating and make me queasy in cartoon versions, become unpalatable when they move out of animation.

I think I’m not up for Will Smith playing Aladdin. Uch. I don’t “get” these live action Disney cartoon remakes.
I hope “The Aftermath” makes it here.

WHY would any (sane) man leave his wife alone w/ Alexander Skarsgard!? It just doesn’t make sense; this reminds me of when Diane Lane cheated on Richard Gere w/ the rando French guy (“Unfaithful”). My mom was like: “Who would cheat on Richard Gere!? TOO unrealistic!”

That’s how I feel about Alan Rickman cheating on Emma Thompson in “Love Actually.” Not credible.
